45-year Reunion Event – Saturday, July 29, 2023

A huge thank-you to all of the classmates who attended the Friday night joint event with CHS at Murphy’s on the River, CHS’ Golf City drop-in, and the Saturday afternoon barbeque at the Corvallis Community Center.
• It was a true team effort on set-up and tear-down at our Saturday event. Thanks to everyone who moved tables and chairs, mopped, emptied garbage, etc. (A special shout-out to Paula (Moore) Terry and her daughter, Courtney…you rock!)
• Huge thanks to the always-dependable Reunion Team of Kathy (Peters) Dooley, Jim Zeller, and Tim Winn. They read drafts, reviewed budgets, and gave much-appreciated feedback during planning, not to mention support during the events.
• Thanks to Kirt Edblom who flew his drone in a stiff breeze to capture our disorderly group in a photo! And also to Mark Potter who, using his camera-on-a-stick, took group and random shots all weekend.
• Thanks to all who generously donated to the Class Fund for future reunions and to keep the website up and running.
• Thanks for coming hungry and enthusiastically eating Nick’s Soul Food!
• Thank you for your show of appreciation with kind words and messages.

UPDATE: July 28, 2023
We are confirmed with Jeb, the owner of Murphy’s on the River, to gather on their patio tonight starting at 7:00pm. CHS ’78 and friends of the classes are joining us too. Be generous and courteous with the staff. They are welcoming us at no charge. This event is no-host.
The registration price for tomorrow evening is now $30/person. It is still easy to register and pay from our secure page. Jim Zeller is making name tags so if you are just dropping in tonight and not coming tomorrow, send us an email and we will let Jim know…by noon today, please! If you plan to show up tomorrow evening without registering, bring cash. We won’t have an electronic payment system at the venue.
We will have tables set up at the Corvallis Community Center both inside and outside because the weather…thank God…will be amazing! Kirt Edblom will take a group photo (by drone) around 6:45pm. Come hungry because Nick’s Soul Food is dishing up his most popular menu items for us. We have an alcohol permit so bring your drinks of choice. Non-alcoholic limeade will be served on the buffet but anything else needs to be brought by you.
We are setting up at 3:30pm so any help rolling out tables and setting up chairs is appreciated. Same for taking things down at 9:00pm. Thanks to everyone for their support and positive comments. This is going to be a fun weekend!

We have been in touch with Corvallis High’s reunion organizer, Phil Hopkins, and made arrangements at Murphy’s on the River for an informal (come as you are…really) no-host gathering. Please be kind and generous to the staff and servers at Murphy’s. They are giving us the patio space at no cost. Corvallis High has made arrangements at Golf City early Saturday afternoon. They will be hanging out on the patio…plenty of seating…and classmates can play Par 3 or Putt-putt golf, order from the bar or kitchen, and/or just drop in to chat.

The July 29th Event registration is now ‘LIVE’ using the ‘2023 Event Registration’ form on this website. An email blast was sent today.
Stay tuned for details about a joint, CVHS-CHS no-host get-together on Friday, July 28th. We will have more details soon and do another email blast then. Rumor has it that CHS is organizing a par-3 golf event for early afternoon on the 29th. Again, we will post what we know when we know it!

Greetings, Classmate!
Another five years has passed and it is reunion time again. We have a venue booked and planning is underway for our 45-year! Join us in Corvallis, greet old friends, share stories, remember being a teenager again (well, maybe not!) Anyway, it will be fun and we hope you’ll be there!
This was our last ever mailing using the US Postal Service. All future classmate and reunion correspondence will be done by email. If you receive the mailing by post, we do not have a working email address for you. We have reserved both the large, indoor event room as well as the outdoor patio. There is plenty of paved parking and the facility is air-conditioned so we are ready for whatever the weather Corvallis delivers in late July.
Food: We will have Nick’s Soul Food cater a buffet dinner.
The (tentative) Menu: Pulled Pork, Braised Chicken Thighs, Red Beans + Rice (V/VG), Cheese Grits (V), Collard Greens (V/VG), Apple Pie Baked Beans.
Drinks: A non-alcohol limeade will be served. All other drinks are BYOB. We have an alcohol permit for the event so bring your drinks of choice.

Class Photo: We will have a class photo taken in Chintimini Park between 6:30 and 7:00pm (thanks to classmate Kirt Edblom and his drone). Electronic copies of the finished photo will be available to download free-of-charge from the website following the event weekend. And it will reside permanently on the ‘Class Reunion Photos’ page with the other six reunion photos.
Donate to the Class Reunion Fund: To keep registration costs down and still secure a good venue and caterer, the 45-year reunion will not bring in enough to repay the Class Reunion Fund. We want to offer a full weekend of events for our 50-year reunion in 2028 and keep our website up and running. Please consider a donation to the Class Reunion Fund from the ‘Home’ page or with your event registration. The 45-year event pricing reflects a small contribution over the cost of the caterer, to class reunion expenses for the website and mailings (postage, labels, envelopes, and copying). All planning work is done by volunteers.
For traveling classmates needing overnight accommodations, we recommend booking early. It is “Wedding Season” in Corvallis and additionally, the National Junior Olympics Track & Field Championships will be on in Eugene. As rooms get scarce, the prices will go up.
